With over 30 years of experience in otology and more than 3,500 cochlear implant surgeries performed, Prof. Dr. J.M. Hans is a recognized pioneer in cochlear implant surgery and advanced hearing restoration techniques. He has played a key role in developing and refining minimally invasive cochlear implant procedures, particularly the Veria Technique, which helps reduce surgical time, minimize tissue trauma, and support faster recovery. His extensive expertise has enabled the implementation of scalable and efficient hearing care programs across diverse regions, improving access to cochlear implantation and delivering high-quality outcomes for patients of all ages.
Dr. Hans has held several prestigious advisory and leadership positions in national and international organizations dedicated to hearing healthcare and deafness prevention. He serves as a Government Member of the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities, Mumbai, and as an Executive Member of the All-India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysore. He is also a member of the National Program for Prevention and Control of Deafness (NPPCD) and the ADIP Cochlear Implant Committee of the Government of India.
